About
My work is influenced by late 19th-century Impressionism, but I’m interested in bringing that way of seeing into a contemporary setting. I paint primarily from the figure, using both classical painting and photography as points of reference.
More than anything, I’m interested in moments—how a particular place, person, light, or expression can stay with us. My paintings are an attempt to hold onto some of those moments and the feelings connected to them, while getting at something essential about the person or subject I’m painting.
"I can smell the earth and hear the small human sounds we make, even through the silence of contemplation. A body of work that speaks softly of the human condition.”
